Being Civil Can be Hard Work
Throughout America workers are reporting an increase in incivility. Bullying, profanity, insensitivity and sabotage are making work lives unpleasant and, as a result, customer service and productivity are suffering. The outcomes of incivility can often spread like a virus and the impact is measurable and significant. Incivility costs time, money, energy, confidence, integrity, relationships, morale, morality, values, communication, common sense, productivity, and organizational profit.
Symptoms of incivility in the workplace include persistent miscommunication, diminished employee morale, decreased productivity, increased customer service complains and ; nonresponsive employees, misunderstandings, arguments, withholding of information, lack of effective internal and external communication strategies and an increase in difficulty in recruiting and hiring competent personnel.
Join us as a we discuss what incivility in the workplace looks like and how we all play a role in creating a positive environment in our work places. Key points will include an understanding that we are all in this together, acknowledging the value of others and creating a sense of personal voice.
