Description
Plan to attend a FREE community screening of the Emmy-nominated PBS Frontline documentary, "Being Mortal." Based on the best-selling book by Dr. Atul Gawande, this powerful film explores the hopes of patients and families facing the end of life. "Being Mortal" examines the nature of the relationship between patients and their doctors, nurses and family members. Watch as Dr. Gawande gathers stories from his patients and their families, a mission that becomes very personal when his own father is diagnosed with cancer. "Being Mortal" sheds light on a medical system so focused on a cure that it often neglects the sensitive conversations that must happen if a patient's true wishes are to be understood and honored at the end of life. http://www.uwec.edu/CE/programs/hospice_foundation_being_mortal.htm
