Position Title: Parent Educator/Project Assistant
Reports To: Parent Educator Lead (with assignments from Executive Director and Other Team Members)
Status: Hourly/ Non-exempt; 30-40 hours per week

General Job Description:
This is a two-part, Parent Educator and Project Assistant position focused on group connections and administrative project and grant support.
 
The Parent Educator portion of the work involves establishing trusting relationships with families with young children in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix Counties working together to strengthen parent-child relationships, improve parental skills, creating connected, confident, empowered families through outreach and group connections.  The candidate will be expected to acquire certifications in key parent education/family support programs.  Training costs will be covered by FRCSCV.
 
The Project Assistant portion of the work is to support FRCSCV staff in the implementation of grant contracts, including, but not limited to Uniform Infrastructure pilot project from the Wisconsin Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board. This project involves the creation of uniform infrastructure and standards that support effective, quality child maltreatment primary prevention services for families of children birth to five years, promote of the well-being of children and families and reducing child abuse and neglect.
 
II. Performance Responsibilities:

Parent Educator
Programming

  • Obtain certifications in a variety of evidence-informed, evidence-based parent education and family support programs. 

  • Facilitate and teach a variety of parent and parent-child classes, workshops, and activities.

  • Provide information, referrals, and support to parents in various settings: telephone calls, personal visits, center drop-ins, education classes, etc.

  • Deliver programs relevant to the needs of all potential participants and ensure equal access to programs and facilities without regard to age, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, ancestry, marital status, arrest record or non-program related conviction record.

  • Approach families from a family-centered service model.

  • Work with parent and community partners. 

  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

  • Participate in other FRCSCV functions and programs as needed.

Planning

  • Facilitate and plan on-going child or child-parent support/discussion groups.

  • Select, develop, and prepare appropriate instructional materials for variety of opportunities determined by staff using Wisconsin Early Learning Standards.

  • Work collaboratively with community organizations to provide parent education/support opportunities.

Reporting

  • Comply with mandated reporting policies and procedures.

  • Maintain and punctually submit accurate records and reports.

  • Assist in monitoring program effectiveness and on-going program evaluation.

 Support Services

  • Conduct outreach, developing relationships with parent and community partners in Pierce, Polk & St. Croix Counties.

  • Assist with marketing of programs and the recruitment of families to participate, promote community awareness of programs.

  • Keep required records accurately, maintain appropriate documentation of direct services provided and complete monthly reports in a timely manner.

  • Serve as an FRCSCV representative on various community committees, as assigned.

  • Assist with organizing donations and other duties associated with the facility and programming.

Project Assistant

The Project Assistant works closely with the members of FRCSCV’s Infrastructure Administrative, Parent Advisory, Protective Factors, and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention teams to organize and execute the work of the teams. The Project Assistant will:

  • Collaborate with several members of the FRCSCV team to implement quality initiatives as part of the Family Resource Center Uniform Infrastructure and Standards Grant.

  • Support various project, program development, and outreach initiatives of FRCSCV related to the standards of quality, in the areas of Administration, Protective Factors, and Parent Leadership.

  • Participate in all Community of Practice (CoP) calls and trainings as appropriate for the Uniform Infrastructure grant. Arrange and facilitate meetings with members of each Infrastructure Team. Track assignments for each area of focus and collaborate on completing the required work.

  • Gather information, organize and facilitate team meetings, draft work plans, and edit progress reports and program outcome summaries.

  • Run reports and/or gather from a variety of database systems. Document the Family Support Action Plan elements and updating as required. 

  • Take lead role in planning and conducting staff workshops on the annual self-assessment using the Standards of Quality Tool.

  • Provide updates on the Infrastructure Project at Staff meetings.

  • Take the lead role in filing required reports for the project.

  • Plan and implement the selection of contents, assembly, and delivery logistics Parenting-on-the-Go Bags to community partners (schools, childcare centers, etc.), including outreach to community partners and volunteers.

III. Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies, or related field.

  2. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  3. Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and work independently.

  4. Strong oral and written communication skills.

  5. Proficiency in Spanish a plus, but not required.

  6. Desire to learn.

  7. Understanding of concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion.

  8. Strong interpersonal skills.

  9. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  10. Understanding of early childhood education concepts and programming.

All other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director.
