Description
Trauma impacts an individual's entire psycho-biological system. The trauma experience is deeply registered and stored in a person's nerves, cells and tissues. Through a process called kindling, a powerful re-living of the trauma can easily be triggered, causing the person to display the symptoms of trauma: hypervigilance, the startle response, emotional dysregulation, difficulty with relationships, intrusive thoughts, chronic fatigue, muscle tension and many other related medical conditions. This class will help participants develop the necessary clinical skills to work with the person experiencing the effects of trauma. Specifically, we will focus on how to work with the role of fear, the communicative language of symptoms, guided imagery and creating healing language. http://www.uwec.edu/CE/programs/trauma-healing.htm
