Description
Award winning author, Elizabeth Fenn will lead a roundtable discussion on her book, "Encounter at the Heart of the World: A history of Mandan People." Her book tells the story of North Dakota's Mandan Indians who, famous for hosting Lewis and Clark during the winter of 104-05, fought hard to survive epidemics of smallpox, whooping cough, and Norway rat invasions. In addition to the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for History, the book also won the 2015 Stubbendieck Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize, the 2015 Colorado Book Award in History, and 2015 Albert J. Beveridge Award.
