Mindfulness Meditation River Falls

This course is an introduction to concepts and techniques in mindfulness meditation. We will explore the nature of awareness, learn the benefits of meditation, and apply a variety of mindfulness meditation techniques. Each class will consist of a short talk, one or more guided meditations, and time for questions and reflections at the end.
Week 1: Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

Week 3: Metta (Lovingkindness) Meditation
Week 4: Open Awareness Meditation

Four classes, each class 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. While it is encouraged to attend all four classes, each class is taught as an independent unit so previous attendance is not necessary (drop-ins are welcome).
Please bring meditation cushion or we will have blankets and bolsters available for use.
Meet your instructor: Matt Dooley combines more than a decade of mindfulness practice with twenty years of classroom experience in his meditation teaching. He is a practice leader at Common Ground Meditation Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a professor of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He has practiced Theravada Buddhism in the Vipassana (Insight) tradition since 2009, and has extensive meditation and retreat experience. Matt teaches mindfulness meditation in a way that is easy to understand and accessible to all. He is passionate about the practice and believes that anyone can benefit from the power of mindfulness meditation.
