This two-day field experience explores the geology, hydrology, and natural history of portions of the St. Croix Watershed. Spend a day discovering the geologic history of Interstate Park and the Dalles of the St. Croix River. See evidence of continental rifting, ancient vulcanism, storm-battered seacliffs, glacial scouring and massive glacial meltwaters. Then trace the flow of water along the Kinnickinnic River, a major tributary of the St. Croix River, from source to outlet. Discuss springs, river processes, delta formation, and environmental issues related to surface water and groundwater.
