This class is for any beginning watercolor painter looking to gain some specific techniques and try out the exciting medium of watercolor! Although often characterized as a challenging medium, watercolors' unique working characteristics and working process can be easily learned. Over the course of seven weeks, the mysteries will be unlocked as we cover the fundamental elements of successful watercolor painting: • The "secret" to create glowing, transparent washes • Effective color mixing • Tonal value and the color/value relationships • How to plan your painting • Basic composition A variety of materials and techniques will be discussed, including the selection of papers, brushes, and pigments, as well as transparent and opaque painting methods.
