Since Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, themes related to environmental issues have become very popular in children's and adolescent literature. From informational books that consider scientific background to social commentary on topics such as eco-terrorism, a wide variety of books is available to help young readers to be aware of the challenges that face our planet and to explore solutions and possibilities. Dr. Hilary Pollack, Dept of Teacher Education, will lead the group in several activities to help to develop the concepts and model strategies for sharing this literature with children. A complete bibliography will be provided, as well as resources for relevant activities.
