The Republican National Convention and the Impact on the St. Croix Valley
This September an anticipated 45,000 delegates, alternate delegates, party officials, volunteers, members of the media, and convention guests will gather in Minneapolis-Saint Paul for the 2008 Republican National Convention. The host cities will be showcased on an international level and are projected to receive an estimated $150-$160 million positive economic boost.
Cyndi Lesher, President of the Host Committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention, will identify ways for the St. Croix Valley to capitalize on this event happening so close to us.

Cyndi Lesher is president and CEO of Northern States Power Company-Minnesota, an Xcel Energy company. CityBusiness magazine named her among the Twin Cities’ most innovative women. In January 2007 Lesher was named president of the Host Committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention and is serving as a loaned executive.
