Kelly Creek Field Day agenda, map and directions
Members and Guests are invited to KRLT’s Annual Meeting and Family Field Day held at Kelly Creek Preserve!
Come and see the beauty of this wonderful KRLT Preserve, with its spring which pumps over 700,000 gallons of water per day into the Kinni, as well as the restored prairie which harbors a wealth of wildlife.
A short business meeting from 9 a.m. - 9:30 am will be held at the Preserve (if inclement weather, it will be held at the Town of Kinnickinnic Hall, at the corner of County Rd. J and JJ). The business meeting will review and celebrate KRLT’s 2008 land protection efforts.
Members and guests will then be off exploring the spring and the prairie in two back-to-back field trips of 45 minutes each. Wisconsin DNR Wildlife Biologist Harvey Halvorsen will highlight the efforts and benefits of the restored prairie and the valuable grassland habitat it provides for birds and other wildlife. Wisconsin DNR Senior Fisheries Biologist Marty Engel will explore the importance of groundwater and spring activity to the coldwater fish community, and talk about the State’s protection efforts in this area of the watershed through its Kinnickinnic River Fishery Area.
Following the field trips, a delicious lunch will be served. Free will donations are accepted.
