DESCRIPTION:5:00PM - 6:30PM Local Food Fair - Learn about various sources for\npurchasing local foods by visiting with local food producers and\norganizations while dining on a variety of complimentary appetizers and\nbeverages made with local ingredients.\n\n6:30 - 8:30PM Winona LaDuke will discuss the definition of a local food\nsystem and look at why local food systems are important in this day and\nage. Ms. LaDuke is a rural development economist who lives and works on\nthe White Earth Reservation in Northern Minnesota\, as the Executive\nDirector of the Honor the Earth Fund. Ms. LaDuke is known for her work in\nreconnecting the bonds between local food and culture in Native American\ncommunities. She speaks extensively on the importance of sustainable\ndevelopment\, renewable energy\, and food systems. The event is free and open to the public.  There will be limited seating\,\nso people are asked to pre-register by emailing Sarah Rykal at\nsarah.rykal@uwrf.edu before April 20\, 2009.  It is likely that the event\nwill be at capacity.  However\, there will be standing room if seating is\nfull.  Free-will donations will be accepted to help promote sustainable\nagriculture in Western Wisconsin.
