| Aug 23 - Sep 21 Women of Legend Gallery Exhibit |
| Women of Legend combines found object art with creative whimsy to please the eye and stir the soul. Meet archetypical women from history and myth whose personae are most familiar and whose names resound in cultural memory. Artist and decorator Jennifer Nelson draws each figure out of our collective unconscious and brings them to life, accompanied by ?Herstory? and appropriate embellishments, this exhibit is a joy to behold. Everyone will enjoy the opening reception, scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 23, particularly little girls and boys, who can indulge their imaginations in the dress-up corner, and eat a piece of ?doll cake? straight out of 1950s American life. The exhibit continues in the library gallery through Sunday, September 21, and is open during regular library hours beginning at 10am daily except summer Sundays. Starting Sunday, September 7 the gallery will be open from 1-4pm. |

The River Falls Community Theatre presents - The Dixie Swim Club
Written by Jessie Jones, Nicolas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, the plot revolves around the lives of five diverse women who were once members of a champion college swim team. Since then, they meet every summer to renew their friendship and catch up with each other. All reunions take place in August in a charming North Carolina beach house.
Of course there are roadblocks, detours, and disappointments along the way, but the gals' loyalty - plus their robust and bawdy sense of humor -sees them through everything that happens from their early "Dixie Swim Club" days to their late seventies.

| Sep 27 - Oct 25 WHOLENESS, UBUNTU: Through the Lens of Africa |
| In this exhibit, professional writers and photographers Tom Lindfors and Michele Hermansen share how their Africa experiences have changed their impressions of the continent and impacted their daily lives. They have chosen the Swahili concept of Ubuntu, ? how each person?s wholeness is inextricably bound to other people, the natural and the spiritual worlds ? as the principal theme guiding their presentation. You are invited to meet the artists at a reception Thursday evening, October 9, from 5-7 p.m. An award-winning photographer, Lindfors uses photography as a tool to explore the importance of community. Hermansen is a photographer and author who leads small-group discovery trips to east Africa. Her perspectives of our global connectedness and approaches to life are deeply impacted by her Africa experiences. In addition to the visual images and writings, music and a display of African artifacts will draw the viewer further into the life and spirit of the culture. |

The River Falls Community Theatre presents - The Dixie Swim Club
Written by Jessie Jones, Nicolas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, the plot revolves around the lives of five diverse women who were once members of a champion college swim team. Since then, they meet every summer to renew their friendship and catch up with each other. All reunions take place in August in a charming North Carolina beach house.
Of course there are roadblocks, detours, and disappointments along the way, but the gals' loyalty - plus their robust and bawdy sense of humor -sees them through everything that happens from their early "Dixie Swim Club" days to their late seventies.
